PhD in Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (Milan University of Technology), in 1999. Since January 2005 she has been Assistant Professor and Researcher at Politecnico di Milano (ICAR/03). She is currently Associate Professor at at Politecnico di Milano (ICAR/03). Education - M.Sc. Degree in Biology, University of Milan, Italy (1995). - Ph.D in Environmental Engineering, Politecnico di Milano (1996-1999), with a dissertation on “Methodologies to Assess the Minimum Flow Requirements in a River Ecosystem” - Fellow researcher at Politecnico di Milano (2001-2004) ACADEMIC TENURES - Professor of “Environmental Impact Assessment” at the School of Civil, Environmental and Territorial Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano (since 2016) Key topics: Model-based Scenario Analysis, Multicriteria Analysis to assess significant impact, different type of monitoring designs for the assessment. - Professor of “Environmental Engineering” at the School of Civil, Environmental and Territorial Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano (since 2010) Key topics: pollution indicators and phenomena and control technologies. - Professor of “The design of environmental monitoring networks” at the School of Civil, Environmental and Territorial Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano (2006-2011) Key topics: statistics, indicators for the environmental impact assessment and the strategic environmental assessment of territorial planning acts. - Professor of “Pollution phenomena and methods for control pollution in the Urban and Territorial Planning”, Faculty of Civil Architecture, Politecnico di Milano (2006). Key topics: risk assessment, environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment for territorial planning and management. - Professor of “Applied Ecology for Environmental Engineering”, Politecnico di Milano. Key topics: river management, diversity indexes, contaminated soil, bioremediation and a laboratory exercises course (80 students, 20 hours) meant to be a problem-solving tutored guide by means of specific software (mainly electronic sheet for computing and statistical packages). - Researcher and assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano with tenure in Environmental quality management and protection (since 200) Professional Experiences. RESEARCH INTERESTS Her research interests, although mostly dedicated to the management of environmental resources, range widely. She has been involved with the issue of the environmental management since 1996 when she started her PhD research. The main issue of her PhD research was in fact the developing of modeling tools to quantify the habitat gain and loss of specific target species as function of the streamflow under different regulation scenarios. She is currently involved in various research projects ranging from the simple study of pollution pathways up to the development of methods to assess the source apportionment of pollutant loads and the evaluation of their ecotoxicological effects, up to development of methods to support decisions for the management and planning of environmental resources. Her research efforts generally involve GIS-based integrated methodologies and multivariate statistical analyisis (Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Multidimensional Scaling etc.). She has been giving several seminars on statistical data analysis to different institutional (e.g. local or regional Environmental Protection agencies, Universities etc.) and non-istitutional services (private or not private Research Institute such as CNR, the Council for National Research, The CCR-Joint Research Centre, Ispra etc.). She has been also consultant for the statistical treatment of experimental data for local authorities (both Regional and National authorities) and for international research institutes (e.g. by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, NATO Undersea Research Centre). In 2012 she has been invited as visiting professor at the Civil Engineering Department of the Aalborg University (Denmark). She has been author of about 60 peer-reviewed publications, more than half of which being published on international journals. She has been also author of more than 40 conference communications.
