Biography
The chief steps of the curriculum vitae of Pasquale Acquafredda are: July 1980, degree, cum laudae, in Geological Science at the University of Bari (Italy) with a thesis in Geomorphology; September 1984, Researcher of Petrology at the Department Geomineralogico, Science Faculty, Bari University; February 2000, Associate Professor of Petrology at the Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences, Bari University. Theaching activities of Pasquale Acquafredda is dedicated to graduate students in Geological Sciences and in Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage; he is member of the PhD panel (Earth Sciences) at Bari University and gives lectures and seminars for masters, workshops and schools in Italy and abroad. Pasquale Acquafredda research activity is centered in the following fields: 1) Development and testing of analytical methods. 2) Petrographic investigations on crystalline basement rocks of the Calabrian-Peloritan Arc (Southern Italy). 3) Study of mineral phases in magmatic intrusive systems and in sedimentary environments; studies on new minerals. 4) Petrographic characterization of archaeomaterials, in particular Neolithic obsidians and Neolithic and Roman ceramics. Pasquale Acquafredda is responsible for numerous research and teaching laboratories, including X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (XRF) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), at the Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences, Bari University. Moreover he collaborate to projects with other Italian and foreign research institutions.
