Biography
MARCOS FAUNDEZ-ZANUY was born in Barcelona, Spain. He received the B.Sc. degree in Telecommunication in 1993 and the Ph.D. degree in 1998, both from the Polytechnic University of Catalunya. He is now Full Professor (catedrático) at ESUP Tecnocampus and heads the Signal Processing Group there (Grup de recerca consolidat GRC-1318, grupo de investigación consolidado (2009, renewed in 2014 and 2017)).
From September 2009 to April 2018 he was dean of Escola Universitaria Politecnica de Mataró (Polytechnic University of Catalunya till 2013 and Pompeu Fabra University after 2013). Since 2010 he is the head of research at Tecnocampus.
His research interests lie in the fields of biometrics applied to security and health. He was the initiator and Chairman of the European COST action 277 ``Nonlinear speech processing'', and the secretary of COST action 2102 “Cross-Modal Analysis of Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication”.
He is author of more than 50 papers indexed in ISI Journal citation report, more than 100 conference papers, around 10 books, and responsible of 10 national and european research projects.
Dr. Faundez-Zanuy is a Spanish liaison of EURASIP.
