Abstract: In the frame of a collaboration between Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) and Istituto Geografico Militare (IGM), a survey of 133 repeat stations of the Italian Magnetic Network (including 2 Observatories, 11 stations in Albania and 3 stations in Corsica) was carried out between 2004 and 2005 with the main purpose of elaborating and printing an update of the national magnetic cartography. In this paper we describe the characteristics of magnetic first and second order networlts, the magnetic measurements and the data elaboration procedures. We report the new repeat station information and data reduced at 02,, hours for the day of measure and at the epoch 2005.0; we determined, for all elements, the coefficients for normal fields at 2005.0 and for secular variation in the period 2000-2005. The new maps for Italy, for D, F, H and Z at the year 2005.0, drawn with graphic contouring programs, together with a short explanation, are enclosed to this paper. In order to get an immediate inspection of magnetic element values in the area of interest on a PC an information system based on a CD program, is also enclosed.
