Biography
I was born in Luanda, Angola, in June 25, 1958. I hold Portuguese and Capeverdian nationalities.
I hold a Ph.D. in Geophysics, University of Durham (UK), February 1990.
I am an Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon, Portugal, with performance ranking “Excellent” in 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2019.
I am also a Researcher at CERENA, Portugal, and my research interests are seismotectonics, seismic hazard assessment, seismic data acquisition, crustal structure, volcanic monitoring, data telemetry, research infrastructure management.
I am fluent in Portuguese, English and French, good in Spanish and Capeverdian Creole.
I specialize on cooperation research with African countries in the domains of seismic and volcanic hazards, with ongoing collaboration with Mozambique, Sao Tome e Principe, Ghana and Cameroun. I am a consultant to World Bank project MAGTAP, in Mozambique. In the scope of H2020 Project EPOS-SP, I lead the Task "Structuring cooperation with Africa and Latin America".
