Biography
Emanuel Soares Peres Correia is an assistant professor at Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro University (UTAD) in Portugal. He has been lecturing in areas such as web development, electronics, telecommunications and computer networks since 2003. He is an affiliated researcher at the Technology and Science Associate Laboratory (INESC-TEC) and his research focuses on combining sensing systems, in-field processing units and mesh communication networks to develop data acquisition systems which enable decision support tools for precision agriculture and forestry. Augmented reality systems and new human-machine interaction interfaces are also interest areas, namely when applied to areas such as education, agriculture and tourism. His research has been presented at international conferences such as CENTERIS, EDUCON, CISTI, CSEDU and SPIE and he has been published in the e.g. Remote Sensing (MDPI), International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS), Journal of Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research, Journal of Applied Logic and Procedia Technology. From 2010 onward he has been involved in management positions at UTAD. He was also a member of the organization of e.g. CENTERIS’2011, CENTERIS'2014, CENTERIS’2017, HCIST’2012, HCIST’2013, HCIST’2017, PROJMan'2014 and PROJMan’2017 international conferences, as well as the 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions of SPAM (Sound, Pictures and Multimedia), at UTAD. He was Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Web Portals (IJWP) between November 2013 and January 2019. Since February 2019 he is an Editor of Remote Sensing (MDPI). He is currently involved in several research projects mainly related with the application of unnamed aerial vehicles and artificial intelligence in both agriculture and forestry systems.
