Biography
Research and education related to the application of GIS and remote sensing in urban planning and management in the context of less developed countries. Focus areas are urban growth and land use change modeling, slum development processes and modeling, climate change and disaster risk management. Richard is engaged in risk reduction issues in collaborations with the UNISDR, UN-HABITAT's Climate Change Unit, the Association of European Schools of Planning, Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative, and the Integrated Disaster Risk Reduction network.
