Guido Ventura received a Degree in Geology from Pisa University and a PhD from the Florence, Catania, Camerino, Cosenza University consortium. After research grants from the National Research Council (CNR), in 1995 he became Researcher at Osservatorio Vesuviano (Naples). From 2003, he is Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV-Roma). He has been Assistant Professor in Structural Geology and Tectonics, invited speaker at international meetings and courses, convenor or part of the organizing committee of conferences. From 2015, he is adjunt researcher at Institute for coastal marine environment CNR (Napoli). Ventura is author or co-author of abour 130 papers in international scientific journals and books, other 10 papers on national scientific journals, divulgative articles, scientific websites, and papers for students. He has given over 70 talks at conferences and workshops. He has collaborated with and been the coordinator of national and international research projects financed by the Italian Civil Protection, CNR, MIUR, Regional agencies, UNESCO, EU, CAS. He has worked for the IUGS, IUCN, UNESCO, Global Geopark Network Bureau, Belgian Federal Science Policy Office, US NSF, ESF. He has been Head of the BUST Institute of engineering geology and environment (2013-2014) and is member of the BUST scientific panel (from 2015). He is or has been member of the editorial board of the scientific journals Encyclopedia of Earth (2008-2012) , Scientific Reports (from middle 2015), International Journal of Earth & Environmental Sciences (2014-date), AIMS Geoscience (from middle 2015), The Scientific World Journal (2012- date), Applied Sciences (from 2020). International Awards: IAAM Award of year 2020, SAC Gold Medal 2016, BUST President Award 2016. Ventura's research interests focus on several fields of Earth Science including volcanology and petrology, tectonics, geomorphology and surface dynamics, remote sensing, seismotectonics and volcanic seismicity, marine geophysics and geodynamics.
