- PublicationOpen AccessLe Geoscienze possono far progredire il concetto di etere?This article is written in honor of my mentor Franco Selleri who has helped to consolidate my awareness of the existence of a medium subtended to ordinary matter, and from which everything comes. From my field, the Earth Sciences, come clues converging on an important role of the ether in the geological evolution of Earth and planets, as well as all the structures of the universe. Paleogeographic reconstructions allow a rough quantitative evaluation of the amount of new ordinary matter that is added to the planet in the unity of time, and the consequent statement of some co-smological consequences and on the inner energy balance of the Earth. The concept of central flow of ether defended here is different from the Loren-tian stationary ether, but the two concepts could be made compatible.

The examined data come from Astrogeodesy (PM and TPW), Paleogeography, Tidal torques, J2 variation, and paleogravity data from Geology. It is shown that a joint reasoning about all these data can constrain the possible variation rate of G, g and M (Earth’s mass). The result is that, albeit in the past great theoretical and experimental efforts were made in proposing and searching for G time-decreasing, a major role could be played by an increase of M. ; ;Scalera, G.; Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica Roma, ItalyIt is shown how shape between certain ocean basins and continents create serious difficulties to the concept of subduction and can be considered evidence of a non-chaotic emplacement of the arc-trench zones along pre-existing deep geofractures, which are related to shapes of far continents. These similarities point to a fundamental process which cannot be described by the plate tectonics and other tectonic hypotheses, and which is till now mostly hidden to our understanding. ; ;Scalera, G.; INGV Roma1 (retired)In the expanding Earth framework it is possible to find additional phenomena that could contribute in a proper way to the water balance and general tectonic eustatism involved in the sea lever rising. Recent compilations seems to leave unexplained up to 12 cm/century of sea rising, and possible solutions invoking a polar ice shells melting near to the upper limit of the error bars reveal in confict with the consequent expected decreasing of the Earth angular velocity. It is shown that taking into account possible effects of an expanding Earth, the problem can be initiated towards an appropriate solution, at least as regards the just orders of magnitude. Major effects on sea-level could come from ongoing relaxation of curvature variations that are peculiar for an expanding globe.518 554
