; ; ; ; ; ; ; The 2010 survey started in September 2009 and was concluded in November 2010. In this period of time Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) has made measurements on the national repeat station network and also repeated some measurements outside Italy. This was the case for 11 repeat stations in Albania, in collaboration with the National academy of the Sciences of Albania and with the university of Tirana, and on 3 repeat stations in Corsica, thanks to the information furnished by the Institute de Physique du globe de Paris (IPGP). By tradition and because of the elongated geometric shape of our peninsula and islands, in Italy, a grid of more than 110 points, called the first order repeat stations, with an average spacing around 55-60 km, is in operation. Over this grid the measurements are repeated regularly, every 5 years. A survey of 131 repeat stations of the Italian Magnetic Network (including 2 observatories, 11 stations in Albania, 3 stations in Corsica and 1 in Malta) was carried out between 2009 and 2010 with the main purpose of updating our magnetic cartography. We describe the characteristics of magnetic first and second order networks, the magnetic measurements and the data reduction procedure. In agreement with the recommendations of MagNetE Committee, we report new repeat station data measured and reduced at 2010.0. An analytical expression, a second order polynomial, in latitude and longitude for the field elements, was determined, and coefficients for 2010.0 and average secular variation over the period 2005-2010, were obtained. The new maps for Italy, for D, F, H and Z at the epoch 2010.0, are shown. In this period of time Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) has made measurements on 37 repeat stations. The average spacing is around 85-90 Km. This model is designed to represent the components X,Y,Z and the total intensity F of the main geomagnetic field for epochs between 1990 and 2005 with prediction to 2008. The model is based on an expansion of the magnetic potential in terms of spherical cap harmonics applied to a cap of semi angle 8≅ . In this paper we describe the characteristics of magnetic first and second order networlts, the magnetic measurements and the data elaboration procedures. We report the new repeat station information and data reduced at 02,, hours for the day of measure and at the epoch 2005.0; we determined, for all elements, the coefficients for normal fields at 2005.0 and for secular variation in the period 2000-2005. The new maps for Italy, for D, F, H and Z at the year 2005.0, drawn with graphic contouring programs, together with a short explanation, are enclosed to this paper. In order to get an immediate inspection of magnetic element values in the area of interest on a PC an information system based on a CD program, is also enclosed.310 36
