Abstract: The Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, sezione di Napoli - Osservatorio Vesuviano began actions for the acquisition (by donation) of the mineral collection of Mariano Carati, Neapolitan collector of Somma-Vesuvius minerals. The collection, set up in about forty years, consists of both personal findings and acquisitions of parts of existing collections, such as the important one (60 samples) of Antonio Parascandola, who was professor of mineralogy at the faculties...
