In this deliverable we describe the development of procedures and activities finalized to improve the communication between scientists and decision makers. In particular, trough testing and enhancing communication efficacy of scientific outputs, as maps, taking into account opinions and needs of the different stakeholders, in order to contribute in filling the gap between scientists and decision-makers. The selected pilot area has been Campi Flegrei active caldera, and outcomes from an Evaluation/Validation process on hazard tools as maps, involving local decision makers, will be presented. A similar evaluation procedure was applied for the tool BET_VH_ST developed as WP6 D6.2 for the short-term probabilistic volcanic hazard assessment. This tool has been implemented to compute hazard curves, hazard maps and probability maps for tephra fallout from Campi Flegrei. In order to finalize a specific requirement of the WP6TASK3, to contribute in sharing procedure and guidelines able to clarify role of scientists and decision maker and above to acquire a better comprehension of “end user’s view respect volcanic hazard assessment and related scientific tools, a specific questionnaire developed in the VUELCO project (Volcanic Unrest in Europe and Latin America) has been proposed to Sicily Civil Protection. A sample among Civil protection officials has been chosen including the ones having decision-making responsibility in case of volcanic unrest at Etna and Stromboli, to survey their opinions and requirements also in case of volcanic unrest, useful to finalize shared procedure and protocols. Furthermore according with sub task6.3.1 and in collaboration with WP7, a survey on volcanic risk perception at Azores involving civil protection officials and operators was carried out.en_US
