The Etna eruptions during the centuries have highly modified the volcano’s landscape renewing it in its landforms. One of the most emblematic cases of this is the study of changes of rural areas and the city of Catania because of the wide lava flow of 1669, the volcanic phenomenon that has most influenced the transformation of the southern slope of Etna. During this event, the lava destroyed many countries and districts, drained swamps and springs and forced rivers to new underground routes. The aim of this paper is to show how to extend the boundaries of their disciplinary history of representation and weaving them with the volcanology we can make the synthesis aimed at documenting, in a whole new way, the processes of landscape transformation in place during the eruption just starting from the gaze of that eruption drew.en
