Biography
Pierre-Yves Burgi is Deputy CIO, and is jointly responsible for the Integration and Development Solution (SoLID) department of the Information Systems Division of the University of Geneva. Since 2015, he is directing the National DLCM project (https://dlcm.ch). Pierre-Yves Burgi received his degree in computer science engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) in 1986, and the title of Doctor es Science from the University of Geneva in 1992. His doctoral studies were followed by a 5-year post-doctoral fellowship in Vision Neurosciences at Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, San Francisco, CA, and at CNRS at Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France. From 1997 to May 2003, he worked in the department of the microelectronics division of the Swiss Centre for Electronics and Microtechnology, Neuchâtel, where he conducted applied research in the field of artificial vision based on VLSI microcircuits. From June 2003 to December 2017, he was head of the New Technologies Department (NTICE) at the University of Geneva. Since January 2018 he has been co-leading the SoLID service.
