Biography
Prof Jetten is a world leader in the field of environmental microbiology and he received the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant in 2008 for his research on anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing bacteria and in 2013 to study th ecology of methanotrophs. He received the Spinozapremie 2012 for the discovery of many new anaerobic microorganisms. In 2013 he received a knighthood in the order of the Royal Lion of the Netherlands for exceptional services to science, and won two Gravitation awards. He has published more than 350 papers than have been cited more than 22700 times. His H index is 76. He supervised 28 PhD theses. He has been invited more than 200 times for keynote lectures and organized many international meetings and conferences. He holds several patents.
