Mocavero, Silvia

Biography
Silvia Mocavero is scientist at the "Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change" (CMCC). She received a Ph.D. in 2006 in “Innovative Materials and Technologies” from the ISUFI at the University of Lecce, Italy. Her skills include high performance computing, distributed and grid computing. She has experience with both optimization and parallelization of C and Fortran codes, developed by scientific community, and development of parallel code using the MPI standard. She has developed a good knowledge of the coupled systems used for climate change study, starting from their configuration to their execution on different massively parallel architectures. She is exploring new computing issues, such as exascale computing and the possibility to exploit it to reduce the time-to-solution for critical applications performing numerical simulations. She has also experience with both the development and the integration of grid middleware applied to different application environments and the design and development of grid portals for specific Problem Solving Environment (PSE).
