Biography
Alessandro Crise, degree in Physics in 1977, is presently Research Director at OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale). He served as head of the OGS hydrodynamic and ecological modelling group in the period 1994-2004 and he was appointed as Director of the Department of Oceanography in the period 2004-2012. From 2013-2015 has been appointed as head of the OGS Crosscutting Actions Team. He has also been elected member of OGS Scientific Board.Dr Crise has been nominated member of Executive Committee of European Marine Board, Vice-Chair of EUROGOOS AISBL and Italian representative in EuroARGO Eric Council. He acts as Italian representative within G7 Expert Group on the Future of Seas and Oceans. Since 2017 Dr Crise sits in the POGO Board of Trustees and has been elected as EUROARGO vicechair (until 2020)..He is author of numerous scientific papers published on highly rated peer-reviewed journals (more that 70 references in Google Scholar). He has been and is partner of major European projects leading WP/tasks connected with ocean observing systems, operational oceanography and coupled physical-biogeochemical modeling of Mediterranean Sea. He is leader of the 10M€ Observing Systems Subproject of the Italian Flagship Ritmare Program.His expertise includes operational oceanography, marine hydrodynamic and biogeochemical modeling, boundary layer dynamics and science-to-policy interface. Dr. Crise has been/is member of relevant Italian and international committees on marine sciences such as ESF Marine Board, POGO, EuroGOOS board, GODAE-MEAP Task Team, Euromarine+ and IOCCG Ocean Colour and Modeling Working Group. He acts as referee for scientific journals and several institutions including European Commission, French Research Agency, IFERMER and NERC. and member of the Scientific Committee of CINECA (the Italian Supercomputing Centre).
