Biography
Claudia Meisina took her PhD degree at the University of Pavia in 1996 with the thesis: “Geotechnical and mineralogical characterisation of some swelling soils of Northern Italy”. She is associate professor in Engineering Geology at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (DSTA) of University of Pavia, where she leads since 2005 the Laboratory of Engineering Geology and Geotechnics of the DSTA. She has also been a post-doctoral researcher at the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières, Groupe Risques Naturels et Géoprospectives in Marseille (France). Claudia Meisina research activity is mainly addressed to Engineering Geology, with particular focus on; the development and application of methodologies for subsoil geological model and for engineering geological mapping to support geohazard assessment; the development and application of methodologies for the geological interpretation at different scale of satellite radar interferometric data, study of the applicability of these techniques for landslide and subsidence identification and monitoring; shallow landslides susceptibility assessment. She is affiliated to various scientific associations and she is secretary of the Italian Association of Engineering Geology (AIGA). She is also a Peer-reviewer of over several international scientific journals. She held the courses of Engineering Geology for the Bachelor degree in Engineering for Environment and Territory and for the Bachelor degree in Earth Sciences; Landslide Hazard and Risk for the MSc degree Civil Engineering For Natural Hazard Mitigation Of Risk From Natural Hazards and Geomechanics (MSc degree in Applied Geological Sciences). She was supervisor and co-supervisor of more than 100 M.Sc theses and of 7 Ph.D theses. She has participated as IP co-IP or workpackage leader in 29 national and international projects. She has been invited speaker in 17 international congresses or workshops.
