Abstract: New web portal of Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia is the result of a laborious redesign process which started on the occasion of the scientific re-organization of the Institute. In order to provide reliable and up-to-date information, researchers and responsible for research activities and specific services have been called to write web contents by themselves, using a content management system. The paper describes main phases of the redesign process, including the re-organization of portal contents and services, and the features of the adopted system. Effective use and first populating efforts in terms of productivity and accessibility as well as future developments are commented.
