Abstract: The methodologies applied by our working group in Trieste for determining magnetotelluric impedance are presented, with special attention to the method used to evaluate the mean impedance over the entire observation interval using a robust procedure. The performance of our method is tested on an example data series, in order to compare it with other published methodologies. We make reference to a recorded time series of the EMSLAB traverse, which has been used to test eight different methods, the results of which have been collected in a published paper.
